The Debbie and Trevor Greene Award of Honour

Brain Care Centre is very proud to announce that our Executive Director, Dr. Garnet Cummings, is the 2016 recipient of Brain Injury Canada's Debbie and Trevor Greene Award of Honour.

The Debbie and Trevor Greene Award of Honour is granted to an individual who has exhibited outstanding, unusual courage in their own personal battle in dealing with the effects of an acquired brain injury, while making a valuable contribution to advance the cause of acquired brain injury in Canada.

The national award is named after Trevor Greene, a reservist who was on duty with the Canadian Forces in Afghanistan in 2006 when he was struck from behind by a teenager wielding a rusty axe. The axe nearly split Greene’s brain in two and he has spent the years since in a lengthy recovery with the support of wife Debbie, whose name is also on the award.

Dr. Cummings was honoured this past week in Toronto, at Brain Injury Canada's Annual Conference.
